Charitable Works
Our Good Works Program continues to be a core expression of SPAHS’ mission, ensuring our activities remain aligned with our purpose as a charitable and public benevolent institution.
In the past year, SPAHS approved $421,000 in funding across five organisations supporting the wellbeing of veterans, chaplains, and their families.
2025 Good Works Funding Recipients
• Defence Force Anglican Chaplains Inc. (DFACI): To deliver programs supporting the spiritual and emotional wellbeing of Defence chaplains and personnel, including moral injury courses, chaplaincy retreats, Warrior Welcome Home programs, decompression support, and scholarships.
• Veterans Care Association Inc.: To conduct wellbeing programs with a residential component at St George’s.
• Operation PTSD Support Inc.: To provide respite retreats at St George’s and
social inclusion events for partners and carers of incapacitated veterans.
• Veterans Support Centre – Currumbin RSL Group: To fund a holistic wellbeing
advocate for veterans.
• Veterans Organic Garden Ltd: To deliver veteran welfare programs through
organic farming, nutrition education, and healthy lifestyle sessions.
Affordable Holidays for Veterans
SPAHS remains committed to ensuring veterans and their families can enjoy
affordable accommodation. By keeping our room rates at St George’s Defence
Holiday Suites significantly below market value, we delivered $1.43 million in
discounted stays, ensuring accessible respite and meaningful holiday experiences for those who have served.
Lavender Apartments - Safe, Short-Term Housing for Veterans
Lavender Apartments is a charitable initiative in which SPAHS provides safe, short-term transitional housing for veterans and their families. The fully furnished units offer a secure place to rest, recover, and stabilise while accessing the support they need.
Designed for stays of up to 12 weeks, Lavender Apartments helps veterans regain stability, work toward permanent housing, and improve long-term wellbeing.
