Guest Services & Facilities
ACCESS TO ST GEORGE’S
Intercoms are located at the main entrance, the visitors’ car park and the southern entrance. For reception, press 100 and then , for individual rooms press room number followed by the for direct access, door can be released via the intercom. The gate on Marine Parade near the Memorial Garden is accessible by your room key as is the gate from Eden Lane.
AMENITIES
We have provided a starter pack to see you through your first night with us. Additional amenities can be purchased from Reception. If you require directions to locate the nearest shops, please see Reception.
AIR CONDITIONING
Please only operate as required and when doors are closed – your co-operation is requested to turn off when not in rooms as this will not only assist in reducing overheads but also ensure longevity of the system. 24 Degrees is an optimum setting. Please do not set to ‘auto’ but rather to ‘cool’ or ‘warm’ – the unit supports two rooms and by setting to auto you will affect your neighbour.
BARBECUE
The BBQ’s in the recreation & pool areas are available for use. Cooking implements are maintained in the drawers of the BBQ and please clean up after use. There is crockery, polycarbonate wine glasses and implements within the kitchen area, again, please clean following use.
ANIMALS
Health Department regulations do not allow pets in the holiday apartments.
BALCONIES
Under Body Corporation Rules, towels and/or clothing must not be hung on the balcony. A clothes airer is supplied to each apartment.
BOOKING AMENDMENTS
If you wish to extend your stay, please check with Reception for availability and relevant charges. Alternatively, should you wish to reduce your stay. There will not be a refund given.
BREAKAGES
We understand that accidents do happen. There will be a nominal charge for breakages, so please report these to Reception before your departure.
CAR PARKING
Please ensure that you use only your allocated car park. A restricted number of visitors’ car parks are available at the Eden Lane entrance. Please do not park in any other spaces.
CHECKOUT
St George’s check-out time is 9:00am on the day of your departure. If you are departing prior to 9:00am, please advise Reception the day prior. Keys may be left in your room. Please remove your rubbish from your apartment and place in the rubbish room on each floor and leave your Suite tidy.
CLEANING / SERVICING & LINEN
We supply all linen for the Suites. Additional linen is available from Reception for a small fee. PLEASE DO NOT USE BATHROOM TOWELS FOR THE POOL OR BEACH. Charges will apply.
On departure, if your Suite is left in an unsatisfactory condition that requires extra cleaning an additional charge will apply. You are expected to remove rubbish, wash and dry dishes, cutlery and cooking utensils and return to appropriate drawers or cupboards. Failure to do so will incur an additional charge.
COMPLIMENTARY ITEMS
You will find complimentary tea, coffee, milk, detergent and toilet paper in your suite on arrival. These items are not re-supplied during your stay, however are available for purchase at Reception.
CREDIT CARDS
We accept Eftpos, Mastercard and Visa. Prior arrangements may be made for payment by cheque; we do not accept Diners or Amex. Credit card details are taken for security for all payments regarding accommodation, damage of goods, excess clean (if required). If credit card details are not supplied, then a $200 cash security bond is required. Monies are refunded after approved inspection by Management on the day of departure.
DISHWASHER
Please do not use washing up detergents in the dishwasher, use dishwasher powder only.
PHOTOCOPYING
This service is available via Reception. A nominal charge will apply.
FIRE ALARMS
The smoke detectors set off the alarm from unaccustomed heat or smoke – even burning toast will set off the fire alarm. Please turn on the range hood extraction fan while cooking and keep all bathroom doors closed when showering as the steam will activate the smoke alarms.
Each month all alarms are tested and you may hear an alarm followed by an announcement stating that this is a test only and to ignore the alarm for the next few minutes. If this alarm continues or in the event of a fire alarm during your stay, please contact Reception and/or evacuate the building using the fire stairs. DO NOT USE THE LIFTS. Fire evacuation procedures are shown on the back of the entry door to your apartment.
IF YOU AS THE GUEST OR OCCUPIER OF THIS APARTMENT ACCIDENTLY OR OTHERWISE ACTIVATE THE FIRE ALARM AND THE FIRE BRIGADE ARRIVES TO THIS BUILDING AND IT IS FOUND TO BE A FALSE ALARM, THEN YOU AS THE OCCUPIER WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE COST OF $1,200.00.
IN HOUSE LIBRARY
We have a library of books located in the common lounge area. Guests are welcome to borrow these books during their stay.
KEYS, FOBS & REMOTES
On arrival, you will be given a set of keys including a fob and if you have a car, a remote also. Please be advised that these are all part of an overall security plan and are expensive. A full set is $125 to replace if lost.
LAUNDRIES
There is a coin operated laundry ($1 and $2 coins) on each floor and the cost is $4 per load. Coins are available at Reception. Levels 1 & 2 also have ironing facilities.
LIFTS
The St George’s lift provides ‘free access’ to the Basement and level 1 Reception. If staying on level 2 or 3 you will have access to that floor by use of the fob issued on arrival. The Garland lift can be used between the basement and level 1 and for access to the gymnasium.
LOCK OUT FEE
If you have locked yourself out and it is after office hours, there will be a charge to open your Suite. If you lose your keys, full replacement cost will be charged to your account.
If you are expecting mail, please inform Reception. Any incoming mail that is received for a guest will be held at Reception.
NOISE
Please consider other Guests and Residents and keep noise at an appropriate level. When returning at night, take extra care not to disturb others, particularly after 10pm. No parties are permitted.
RECREATION FACILITIES
Guests are encouraged to utilise the communal areas and may invite personal friends to visit in the reading/TV/dining areas. As they are communal, there is an expectation that you will be respectful of others and behave appropriately. You remain responsible for any friends that you invite onto the premises. Food and drinks may be consumed in the dining hub and in the outside areas, however, please NO FOOD OR DRINKS on carpeted areas. Children must be supervised.
The outdoor pool and BBQ entertainment areas are located at the front and rear of the building. This area is open for guests to use between the hours of 8am to 8pm. No glassware is permitted in the pool area and food or drink should not be consumed while using the pool or gymnasium. When using the BBQ, please ensure you clean it afterwards for the next person to enjoy.
The Gymnasium is located in the Residents basement. Please take the Residents lift down to the basement. You will need your room fob to open the gymnasium door. Please wear appropriate sports shoes. Children under the age of 16 are not permitted to use the Gym.
RUBBISH DISPOSAL
Garbage chutes are located at the southern end of the corridors, there is a recycle bin close to the chute, please ensure that garbage is bagged and that NO GLASS is placed in the garbage chute. Our garbage is collected on Saturday and Tuesday, your co-operation to wrap seafood shells etc., and freeze them until either Friday or Monday afternoon would be greatly appreciated. Re-Cycling material is cleared on Thursdays.
SECURITY
Please assist us to maintain security by ensuring rooms are locked when you are not in attendance and that if you open community area doors that they are closed on leaving.
SHOPPING/MARKETS
Grocery shopping is available from Tweed Heads Mall (Woolworths & Coles) and The Strand Mall – Coolangatta (Woolworths & Aldi). There are also many specialty shops, cafes and restaurants within easy walking distance to Coolangatta and Tweed Heads. Coolangatta Beachside Markets are on the 2nd Sunday of the month & the 4th Sunday when there are 5 Sundays in the month. Other Market information is available from Reception.
SMOKING
This is a NON SMOKING building. Queensland Government regulations do not allow smoking in any of the Common areas of the building e.g. stairwells, garage, pool or garden areas. Smoking is NOT PERMITTED in your Suite. If it is found that smoking has occurred, costs associated with the cleaning to remove all traces of smoke will be charged to the Guest. This can include dry cleaning of soft furniture and furnishings. Smoking in The Garland will impact on any future bookings you may wish to make.
A deodorising charge will apply if you smoke inside your suite.
SWIMMING POOL
Please ensure that pool rules are adhered to, the pool is for Residents and Guests accommodated at The Garland and St George’s Defence Holiday Suites.
TAXIS AND TRANSFERS
For Airport Transfers – GC Cabs 131008 – but please choose Gold Coast area. A shuttle bus may be arranged to the airport and the theme parks. A minimum of 24 hours’ notice is required.
TELEPHONE
The phones within the suites may be used to contact guests in other rooms by dialling the room number. To contact Reception, please dial 9 from your Suite phone.
TOURS
Should you require information or assistance with the local area and activities or tours, please feel free to contact our ticketing team at Reception.
WIRELESS INTERNET
Wifi is available throughout the St George’s Defence Holiday Suites. You will receive free daily allowance of 500mb per room complimentary (which will allow you to view online and read emails but not downloading).
Should you exhaust your daily allowance, additional usage can be purchased “by contacting Freedom Internet by entering your credit card details directly into the Wi-Fi landing page that will appear on your device.
